Niagara Falls. American Falls (right) is the smaller of the two main waterfalls at Niagara Falls. The cascades mark the border between Canada (left) and America (right). The two countries are joined by the Rainbow Bridge (left) across the Niagara River. The American Falls are 51 metres high and 305 metres wide. The American Falls carry about 10 percent of the 5.5 million litres of water which flow over the Niagara Falls each second. The water erodes the American Falls by around 15 centimetres every year.
