Fogbow. View from a beach of a fogbow over a stack. Fogbows form when sunlight hits fog producing an arc of light about 40 degrees from the centre of the sun's disc. Fog is comprised of tiny droplets of water and forms when relatively warm, moist air is cooled. As it cools, some of the water vapour in the air condenses to form water droplets as cool air can carry less water vapour than warm air. A stack is the result of a cliff being eroded by waves. First a cave is formed, then an arch,as more of the cliff is eroded, until finally a stack is produced. Photographed in Olympic National Park,Washington,USA | |
