Reventador volcano erupting. View of the Reventador stratovolcano,Ecuador,during an eruption. During this eruption the plume from the volcano reached a height of 17 km and pyroclastic flows reached up to 7 km from the cone. The volcano's cinder cone lies inside a U shaped caldera,which opens towards the Amazon basin,and its lavas are Andesitic which is characteristic of the underlying subduction zone.
