Hand coloured woodcut of the Dragonet of Mount Pilatus. The creature's head fell to the ground and it's flashing eyes closed for the last time. Greatly rejoicing,Winckelriedt raise his sword above his head in celebration of his victory. But in doing so sealed his fate. A trickle of the dragonet's blood ran down the hilt of his blade on to his hand and wrist. He opened his mouth to scream, but before he could utter a sound he was dead, killed by the avenging blood of the beast that he had slaine only moments earlier. The description of the dragonet, with its slender jaws, long neck, and pointed wings, may have been derived from Pterodactyl fossils. A dragon is a legendary creature, typically with serpentine or reptilian traits, that features in the myths of many cultures. There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: the European dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies | |
