Robot artist. A robot paints an original artwork composed by a computer, watched by US inventor and artist Harold Cohen. This robot is controlled by AARON - a computer program written by Cohen that composes its own art. The robot consists of a small arm that moves over an 8x6 foot table, changing brushes and mixing paints as it needs to. The white cups contain paint squirted out of dye bottles at the end of the table. AARON runs on a powerful Silicon Graphics workstation and takes several hours to create a new picture - usually human figures against a simple background. The robot then takes most of a day to transfer this to paper using techniques befitting a fine artist | |
