Blesbok males (Damaliscus dorcas phillipsi). One blesbok is smelling the other's scent. Stand offs between territorial blesboks rarely come to blows. These antelopes inhabit grasslands close to water in central and eastern South Africa. Females and their young, and juvenile males live in large herds. Older males occupy a small territory, measuring between 1 and 2.5 hectares, which the herds pass through. Blesboks feed on grass and measure up to 95 centimetres to the shoulder.
