Lion cub (Panthera leo). A lion cub is born after a gestation period of 105 days, usually in a litter of 2 to 4 cubs. It remains with its mother and her pride for around 2 years, during which time it develops crucial hunting and social behaviours in readiness for independence. P. leo is found in savannah and scrubland throughout sub- Saharan Africa and in scattered areas of India | |
