Brown jellyfish (Chrysaora melanaster). This type of sea nettle jellyfish has a bell measuring around 30 centimetres in diameter. Its stinging tentacles trail for 3-6 metres in the water. These are used to capture and paralyse its prey,which is then transferred to its central mouth. C. melanaster lives in shallow waters in the Pacific Ocean. Photographed in the Boston Aquarium,USA | |
