Space shuttle landing. Space Shuttle Endeavour landing at the end of mission STS-111. The parachute deployed behind the shuttle is used to reduce the landing run,reduce the wear on the brakes and provide increased directional stability in cross-wind landings. Mission STS-111 flew from June 5th to June 19th 2002. During the mission,the shuttle delivered equipment to the International Space Station,including parts of the station's mechanical arm.
