Gemini, the Heavenly Twins, third of the twelve constellations or signs of the Zodiac. The figure of the twins is superimposed on a photograph in which the constellation stars have been enhanced. The twins are the stars Castor & Pollux, seen by the faces of the two figures,Castor at right,Pollux at left. In Roman mythology, they were the sons of Leda the Swan; born of the same egg, they were placed in the heavens because of their broth- erly love, although they represent the opposing principles of war (Castor) & peace (Pollux). They were also the guardians of Rome & its sailors. The Sun is in Gemini from 21 May to 21 June | |
