Taurus the Bull, second of the twelve constellations or signs of the Zodiac. The figure of the bull is superimposed on a photograph in which the constellation stars have been enhanced. Taurus is a very ancient constellation, possibly deriving from bull worship in early Mediterranean civilisations. In Greek mythology,Taurus was the snow-white bull which carried Europa off, only to be revealed as Zeus in disguise. More simply, the bull can be seen as threatening Orion, who holds up his shield to ward him off. The Sun is in Taurus from 20 April to 20 May | |
