Martian crater. Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) image of an impact crater on Mars. This crater is found in a region known as Elysium Planitia. A ring of ejected material can be seen around the crater. This crater is about 2700 metres in diameter. This image was taken in 1999 by the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) on board the MGS. MGS is a NASA satellite orbiting Mars which has been observing and mapping the planet from orbit since 1998 | |
