Diagram of the path of the Voyager 2 spacecraft. Launched from the Kennedy Space Center,Florida,on 20 August 1977,the spacecraft flew past Jupiter in July 1979,Saturn in August 1981,& Uranus in January 1986. It is due to encounter Neptune in August 1989. At each flypast,it has recorded & transmitted back to Earth a large quantity of pictures & other scientific data which have revolutionised our ideas of the outer planets & their moons | |
