Male condoms. Collection of condoms removed from their sterile packagings and placed in a pile. This male contraceptive and prophylactic in the form of a latex rubber sheath,is unrolled over the erect penis prior to sexual intercourse. The device prevents sperm entering the vagina to cause pregnancy. Sperm is caught in the teat at the tip of the condom. Condoms also prevent transmission of sexually-transmitted diseases, including HIV,the virus causing AIDS. The use of condoms constitutes one of the practices of "safe sex",that is,sexual activity modified so as to minimise the risk of contracting venereal diseases | |
