Micro-endoscope held up to an eye. This micro- endoscope can be used to look for the first signs of breast cancer. The ultra-fine endoscope incorporates fibre optic technology, making it thin enough to be passed into a breast through the nipple. This allows detailed examination of the milk ducts, the most common site of breast cancer formation. Any changes in the appearance of the ducts may be indicative of cancer. The earlier it is diagnosed, the greater the chances of a cure. This endoscope is being developed by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund at Guy's Hospital,London,England | |
