MODEL RELEASED. Coronary angiography examination in progress. This X-ray based technique is used to visualize blood flow in the coronary arteries, the arteries that supply the heart muscle with blood. To do this,a catheter is introduced through a vein in the groin & is manoeuvered up the body towards the heart using the digital X-ray system (on monitors at back). Once in position,a radio- opaque dye is injected, which outlines the arteries as dark ribbons on the image & reveals any stenosed (obstructed arteries). Coronary angiography is performed to assess the extent of arterial disease (atherosclerosis). Patient: James Snowden,Dr Douglas Reid | |
