| Colonel Edmond Herbert Grove-Hills,(1864-1922),British astronomer. Grove-Hills was a military engineer,but in his spare time pursued astronomy and photography. Later in his career he became involved in performing state surveys,working in Africa and Canada. He described a method of determining longitudes for survey work from photographs of the moon. Grove-Hills served as president of the Royal Astronomical Society from 1913-15,and as secretary of the Royal Institution of Great Britain,London,from 1915-22 | |
