30 St Mary Axe and Tower 42,London,UK. 30 St Mary Axe (left) was designed by Sir Norman Foster and is known as 'The Gherkin' due to its shape. When it was completed in 2003,the building became an overnight icon of London. In 2004,it was awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture,Britain's most prestigious architectural accolade. On the right of 30 St Mary Axe is Tower 42 (tallest building),which is also known as the NatWest Tower. This building was designed by R.
