Iceberg formation. Ice floating on the sea after calving (breaking away) from a glacier. This process is one way in which icebergs are born. When a glacier arrives at the coast it becomes less stable. Cracks develop and the glacier weakens. Huge chunks of ice often fall into the sea,as seen here.
