British Antarctic Survey (BAS) glaciologists at a remote field camp in the Antarctic Peninsula set up a lightweight drilling system to extract ice cores from within the Antarctic ice sheet. The ice cores are transported back to BAS headquarters at Cambridge,England, where various techniques are employed to analyse in extremely fine detail the chemical & radiochemical trace elements they contain. This data provides evidence of past changes in climate & of current trends in the pollution of the atmosphere | |
