MODEL RELEASED. Glaciologist in Antarctica sawing off a piece of an ice core which he has drilled from the floor of a snowpit. He is dressed in surgical garments in order to minimise contamination of the ice core. The ice core will be analysed by various techniques for chemical & radiochemical trace elements. This data provides evidence of past changes in climate and of current trends in the pollution of the atmosphere. Part of British Antarctic Survey research | |
