Image of the optical atmospheric effect known as a corona around the solar disc. It consists of one or more rings located symmetrically around the Sun and is caused by the diffraction of light passing through water droplets. The rings usually extend for a few solar radii and the width of each ring is inversely related to the diameter of the water droplets causing it. The same phenomenon may be seen around the lunar disc
