Storage of archaelogical specimens sent to the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit. Older specimens submitted to the Unit for dating were in the form of large pieces such as bones and artefacts from which the unit's scientists took small quantities of material to use. This practice has been superceeded by many clients submitting much smaller quantities in specimen tubes, which makes for easier and less bulky storage in more controlled conditions.
