Guillaume Rondelet (27 September 1507 – 30 July 1566),known also as Rondeletus (Rondeletius),Professor of medicine at the University of Montpellier in southern France and Chancellor of the University between 1556 and his death. An anatomist and a naturalist whose work on marine animals became a standard reference for subsequent generations of the rennaisance naturalists. In it he describes a roster of novel facts informed by his own direct observation,as well as propogating a few myths and even help launching a few (see his report of the sea monk and sea bishop in this collection) | |
