Under Helm Farm in Grasmere is being farmed in a way that reduces their carbon footprint. They use Belgian blue cattle that produce both beef as well as milk. The cattle are fed on rye grass which significantly reduces their methane output. Also the Belgian blues can be calved up to 10 times,where as most pure milking cattle only calf 3 times before they are destroyed | |
