Crowned lemur (Eulemur coronatus) male. This lemur is endemic to the northern forests of Madagascar. It feeds mainly on fruit and leaves, but will also occasionally take small vertebrates and bird's eggs. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed in Madagascar | |
