New Horizons image of the dwarf planet Pluto taken from a distance of 768,000 kilometres. The lower part of Pluto seen here is dominated by a bright feature known as the 'heart',which measures approximately 1,600 kilometres across. Its interior appears featureless, suggesting it is the sight of ongoing geological processes. New Horizons has spent nine and a half years travelling the nearly five billion kilometres to Pluto.
