River in the Nebraska Sandhills. This is part of the North Loup River, one of a system of rivers ('the Loups') that cover some 2900 kilometres and drain around a fifth of Nebraska. The Nebraska Sandhills is a prairie region that lies above the underground Ogallala Aquifer. This aquifer supplies large amounts of drinking water and water used for irrigation.
