Lymph vessels carry lymph fluid round the body and are also part of the immune system. Inflammation of lymph vessels and nodes (glands) occurs when the system is overwhelmed by an infection. The patient may also have a fever,and there is a danger that the infection may spread to the bloodstream. Treatment is with antibiotics to control the infection,and with anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling
