The East African or Beisa oryx (Oryx beisa) is a species of antelope from East Africa. It is classified as near-threatened by the IUCN. As these antelopes often reside in semi-desert areas, they are able to store water by raising their body temperature and in so doing, avoiding the need to perspire.
