The Damara Red-billed Hornbill (Tockus damarensis) is a species of hornbill in the Bucerotidae family. It is found in southwest Angola, northern Namibia, and western Botswana. During incubation, the female lays three to six eggs in a cavity found in a tree, which is blocked off with a plaster of mud, droppings and fruit pulp. There is only one narrow opening, just big enough for the male to transfer food to the mother and chicks. When the chicks and the female are too big to fit in the nest, the mother breaks out and rebuilds the wall, then both parents feed the chicks. These omnivorous hornbills mainly feed on the ground.
