Faraday's laboratory. Reconstruction of part of the laboratory belonging to Michael Faraday (1791-1867) in the basement of the Royal Institution where he worked. It was in this space that Faraday made his discoveries on electromagnetic induction in 1831. After the centenary of this, major redevelopment of the site was undertaken and the laboratory was dismantled. It was then reconstructed, using watercolours of the original by Harriet Moore that had been painted in the 1850s. The laboratory is now part of the museum the Royal Institution,London | |
