Photozootrope. 19th-century artwork of a device called a photozootrope built by French inventor Henri Joly (1866-1945). This was an early motion picture projector, based on the same principles as Edison's Kinetoscope. Edison's invention only had one viewer, whereas Joly's device had four (across centre). Artwork from the first volume (1897) of 'La Revue Scientifique et Industrielle' by French chemist and inventor Jules-Louis Breton (1872-1940) | |
