Bunsen burner flame. This device burns hydrocarbon gases (supplied through the rubber tube at left) to produce a flame. It is used in the laboratory as a heat source in experiments,or for flame tests. The vent is in a fully open position, drawing air into the combustion mixture, leading to a stronger, hotter, blue flame. Closing the vent leads to a less hot yellow flame. For a sequence and montage showing the different types of bunsen burner flames, see images C010/9562 to C010/9566 | |
