Mobula ray (Mobula japonica) leaping clear of the water. Rays,a type of fish, can travel in schools of over a hundred below the water's surface. They can leap over 2 metres in the air,in a behaviour known as breaching. The reasons for this behaviour include escaping predators and shaking off parasites. This ray can reach length of 5 metres across. Photographed in the Gulf of California,a body of water between the Mexican mainland and Baja California | |
