Nepenthes rajah plant. This species of insectivorous plant is endemic to Mount Kinabalu and neighbouring Mount Tambuyukon in Sabah,Malaysiam Borneo. The cup-shaped structure seen here attracts and traps insects. It contains digestive fluids that dissolve its prey, providing nutrition to the plant. Specialised organisms (nebenthebionts) inhabit the cups, forming mutually beneficial (symbiotic) relationships with the plant. Photographed on Mount Kinabalu | |
