Light microscopy of Legionella sp. bacteria, the causative agent of Legionnaire's disease. This is a type of pneumonia caused by inhalation of the bacteria in water droplets. It was first identified at a conference for the American Legion in Pennsylvania, USA, in 1976, where it caused 182 cases and 29 deaths. | |
