Trimbot gardening robot trimming a plant. This prototype gardening robot is designed to trim garden plants and flowers. It is based on a Bosch Indego robot lawnmower and uses 3D computer vision to assess where to cut without damaging the plant. It uses 3D sensing of irregular surfaces to navigate the garden. The cutting tool is based on a rotary razor. This robot is being developed at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands as part of an EU-funded consortium. TrimBot2020, in development since around 2015, has been funded since 2016 by the European Union Horizon 2020 programme. | |
