Bumblebee feeding on bluebell flowers. High-speed footage of a common carder bee (Bombus pascuorum), a type of bumblebee, feeding on pollen and nectar from bluebell flowers. Nectar is a sugary fluid that is produced by flowers to attract pollinating insects. Insects feeding on the nectar of flowers play an important role in transferring pollen between different flowers, a process called pollination. This behaviour benefits both bee and plant, an example of a type of symbiosis called mutualism.
