Lysosome is an enzyme that causes the hydrolysis (breaking of bonds due to water) of the bonds between the N-acetylglucosamine (NAG) and N-acetylmuramic acid (NAM) molecules within the peptidoglycan chain of the cell wall. This causes the destruction of the bacterial wall. Lysozyme is found in bodily secretions such as saliva, sweat, tears and mucus. | |
