Polarised light micrograph of a tangential section of mature wood of Douglas or Oregon pine (Pseudotsuga menziesii, syn Pseudotsuga taxifolia). It is an evergreen fir in the Pinaceae family native to North America. The lozenge shaped structures with round profile inclusions are uniseriate medullary rays. Tracheids exhibit spiral thickening.
